How many bird species can you see in 1 day?

Join our 1st Annual Coastal Birding Challenge

 Sunday, February 3, 2008 5pm  

Birders will have 24 hours to see as many species as they can within that time.  Team with the most species will win top prize.  There will be various prize categories. Prizes possible even for novice birders. 

Prizes include:

Private bird watching tour with McIntyre Birding Tours, trip for 2 on Skimmer,Trip for 2 to King Ranch nature tour, art,  bird books, and other great birding items.

Teams will consist of 2 people max with a minimum $20 entry fee per team. 

100% of entry fees will be donated to ARK (Animal Rehabilitation Keep).

 

This will be a great way to show your love of birds and compete in a friendly and fun competition. 

 

  

ARK (Animal Rehabilitation Keep) is located in the UT Marine Science Institute in Port Aransas, TX.  ARK has been taking in and rehabilitating wounded animals for over 60 years so that they may be released back into the wild.    If you would like more information about ARK visit their website at http://146.6.184.3/ark/index.htm

Coastal Birding Challenge Rules

  1. Teams will consist of 2 people max.
  2. Teammates must bird together throughout the entire challenge.
  3. Teams may not start challenge until 5pm February 2, 2008 and may only bird until 5pm February 3, 2008.
  4. Birders must stay within the following Coastal Counties (Aransas, Bee, Nueces, Jim Wells, San Patricio, Refugio, Kleberg, and Goliad).
  5. Birds may identified by sound or sight.
  6. Teams must verify rare (write-ins) sightings by photo or detailed description. (MBT reserves the right to reject incredible sightings that are not validated.)
  7. Teams must select two birds on their list for a chance to win the Best Find Prize. 
  8. Team entry donations are non refundable.
  9.  All lists must be turned in by 5pm at check in station (UT Marine Science Institute Auditorium in Port Aransas) or team will be disqualified. 
  10. Domestic birds will not be accepted on lists.
  11. If dispute should arise McIntyre Birding Tours will have final say in resolving the dispute.
  12. In case of tie McIntyre Birding Tours (MBT) will decide winner by coin toss.
  13. MBT (Jon & Yvette McIntyre) will participate in challenge but will NOT be eligible for any prizes.
  14. Teams must use approved checklist.
